Job Description
Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in California. This opportunity offers night shift coverage starting 08/04/2025, for an initial contract of 66 days, with potential for extension. The assignment involves working 10-hour shifts from 11 PM to 9 AM, with a minimum of 30 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in both the regular Emergency Department and the Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) unit, managing 3-4 low acuity patients per hour. Responsibilities include handling ankle sprains, stitches, wrist injuries, major joint issues, complex laceration repairs, neonatal and pediatric assessments, and X-ray interpretation. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a skilled PA to contribute their expertise in a fast-paced emergency setting while enjoying the flexibility of locum tenens work.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide emergency medical care in both regular ED and RME unit
Manage 3-4 low acuity patients per hour efficiently
Perform complex laceration repairs in a timely manner
Treat various injuries including ankle sprains, wrist injuries, and major joint issues
Conduct neonatal and pediatric assessments for patients from birth onwards
Interpret X-rays and other diagnostic imaging
Collaborate with ED physicians and other healthcare professionals
Ensure high-quality patient care and safety
Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Epic EHR system
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
Participate in any necessary staff meetings or training sessions
Adapt to varying patient loads and acuity levels
Additional Information:
Must be licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in California
Experience in emergency medicine required
Proficiency in complex laceration repair and pediatric assessments essential
Ability to interpret X-rays independently
Familiarity with Epic EHR system is advantageous
Strong time management and multitasking skills required
