EvenUp is on a mission to close the justice gap using technology and AI, empowering personal injury lawyers and victims to secure faster settlements and better outcomes. The Backend Software Engineer will work cross-functionally to enhance AI-native workflows and contribute to the development of EvenUp's document generation products, directly impacting the success of personal injury claims.

Responsibilities:

• Enhancing the capabilities of EvenUps AI-native and expert-review workflows
• Implementing and integrating LLM-based solutions that immediately improve outcomes for our customers
• Developing systems to evaluate the efficacy and quality of key customer deliverables
• Contributing to the evolution of EvenUps document generation products at the forefront of AI technology
• Product Development for AI-Native Workflows: Contribute to end-to-end AI workflows by integrating traditional SaaS with AI applications, rapidly prototyping features for customer needs, balancing innovation with pragmatism
• Cross-functional Work: Collaborate with founders, product managers, and designers to brainstorm, scope, and realize new features
• Architecture & Engineering Excellence: Establish best practices for architecture, coding, and delivery; lead and build user-facing experiences, services, APIs, and systems
• Code Quality & Security: Deliver secure, compliant code for sensitive data; ensure quality through testing and reviews; monitor, debug, and optimize performance
• Mentorship & Team Growth: Mentor team members; contribute to team culture and continuous improvement
• Operational Responsibilities: Handle on-call issues; document processes for alignment with standards

Qualifications:

Required:

• Extensive experience in building frameworks, libraries, and distributed systems with reliability, observability, and performance in mind
• Proficiency in Python or other languages like Go, Java, Node.js, or C++
• Ability to craft and deliver high-quality software solutions, including production-ready code, RESTful APIs, and managing infrastructure
• Experience delivering complex projects from concept to deployment
• Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments such as startups
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration
• Strong ownership, problem-solving, creativity, and initiative

Preferred:

• Experience in AI, legal tech, or social impact projects
