HR Generalist – Benefits & Leave Administration

Renton, WA | Full-Time | On-Site/Hybrid Flexibility Possible A local public sector organization is seeking an experienced HR professional with a strong background in protected leave administration, employee accommodations, and benefits coordination. The ideal candidate brings at least four years of hands-on experience in FMLA, PFML, ADA, and Workers' Compensation compliance, including intake, eligibility review, and policy interpretation. Key Responsibilities: Manage the end-to-end leave process, including FMLA, personal leaves, on-the-job injury claims, and ADA accommodations. Coordinate light duty and return-to-work processes with managers, employees, and medical providers. Interpret and apply federal and state regulations related to leave, disability, and workplace accommodations. Serve as a liaison between employees, departments, and third-party administrators regarding benefits, leave, and payroll coding. Provide clear guidance to employees on benefit offerings, enrollment, and eligibility. Maintain accurate records and support compliance with internal policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws. Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 4 years of direct experience in HR leave administration or benefits coordination. Knowledge of Washington State leave laws, including PFML and Workers’ Compensation. Familiarity with timekeeping systems and payroll coding. Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and communication skills. Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage sensitive employee interactions.
