Environmental Professional Asbestos Specialist

Hart & Hickman, PC (H&H) is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Professional with experience in performing asbestos surveys to join our expanding team in Charlotte, NC.

As an Environmental Professional Asbestos Specialist you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and collecting samples from suspect asbestos-containing materials located in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Following the collection of samples, you will be responsible for preparing a written report detailing the findings of the inspection. You will work closely with our team to perform and provide expert guidance on asbestos surveys, abatement planning or maintenance of asbestos-containing materials identified in good condition, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct asbestos surveys in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Identify and assess the condition of suspect asbestos-containing materials, either friable or non-friable, on the interior and exterior of buildings.
• Collect samples from a representative number of locations in accordance with Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) guidelines and other requirements.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting the findings of the inspection.
• Provide recommendations to clients on the management of asbestos-containing materials identified during the asbestos survey.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success.
• Stay up-to-date on industry regulations, trends, and new technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field (preferred).
• Current AHERA asbestos inspector training and subsequent refreshers.
• North Carolina Asbestos Inspector Accreditation.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in performing asbestos inspections.
• In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal asbestos regulations.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
