Job Description

Hellas, the #1 Sports Construction company in North America , is seeking an experienced CAD Designer to support our fast-paced construction operations based in Austin.

Headquartered in Cedar Park, TX, Hellas is the largest sports construction contractor in the United States. Specializing in the general construction of sports facilities and synthetic surfaces, Hellas also champions innovative artificial turf manufacturing, base construction, and the planning, installation, and maintenance of fields, tracks, and tennis courts. • Develop comprehensive conceptual site plan designs for sports complexes, including field layouts, bleacher arrangements, building placement, parking lots, ADA access routes, fire lane access, and other site elements, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and constructability in early-stage design presentations.
  • Develop 3D conceptual site models using software such as SketchUp, Lumion, or Enscape to visually communicate design intent, spatial relationships, and overall site layout for proposed sports facilities - preferred but not required.
  • Research and apply local zoning regulations , building codes, and accessibility standards during the conceptual design phase to ensure all site plans are compliant with jurisdictional requirements from the outset.
  • Interpret and analyze surveys, field notes, aerial imagery, and other data to identify design constraints and ensure project success.
  • Assist in the creation and editing of plans including field layouts, seaming plans, renderings, and construction details.
  • Recreate logos and field artwork by tracing and converting graphic files into AutoCAD-compatible formats.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve design challenges and ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback or correct deficiencies.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and contribute to the consistency of the design database.
  • Add notations, dimensions, and comments to plans in line with project standards.
  • Meet project deadlines and assist with multiple projects simultaneously under tight schedules.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a civil environment with exposure to grading, paving, drainage, and utilities is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering sketches, survey data, and design specs.
  • Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; familiarity with 3D animation software, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative attitude.
